Household hazardous waste collection today
Clean Harbors will be hosting its free household hazardous waste collection on Saturday, April 16 for residents of El Dorado and Union County.
Drive-up service is offered the third Saturday of each month, April through September, at the Clean Harbors facility, located at 309 American Circle between 8 a.m. and noon on collection days.
All hazardous waste must be placed in a solid, non-returnable container, as no spillage will be offered. Residents should ensure that waste can be easily removed from the vehicle to prevent accidental spillage.
Some acceptable waste includes used oil and filters; Battery; paints; solvents; rust removers; antifreeze; automotive products; brake fluids; degreasers; carburetor cleaners; dry cleaning fluids; herbicides; pesticides; chemicals for swimming pools; common household cleaners; butane cylinders for grills or lanterns; fluorescent bulbs; and other common household items.
Items that will not be collected include smoke detectors, firearms, explosives, compressed gases, radioactive waste, business generated waste, biomedical waste, tires, household appliances, electronic waste and waste.
